5 mile travel restrictions lifted, extended households allowed and more ...
A short update on recent Covid-19 developments from Emma, Genetic Alliance UK’s Policy and Engagement Manager for Wales.
- New arrangements, which could come into force on 6 July, were set out by the First Minister. If cases of coronavirus continue to decline people will be able to be part of one extended household. The extended household must contain the same individuals for the foreseeable future and if one member of an extended household develops symptoms of coronavirus, the entire extended household will need to self-isolate, not just those living together. The extended household must keep records to help with contact tracing in case someone in the extended household tests positive for coronavirus.
- There are no changes to the advice for those shielding in Wales. Letters that have been sent out to this group have a date of 16 August and shielding advice remains in place.
- New guidance relating to the use of PPE for unpaid carers. Contact your local authority for advice as they all have their own arrangements for getting supplies of appropriate PPE to unpaid carers. Also contact your local authority if you normally use PPE but cannot currently access this through your normal routes.
- Family Lives helpline service extended to Welsh speakers offering emotional support, information, advice and guidance on any aspect of parenting and family life across England and Wales.
