Volunteering while on furlough - Sarah's story
During this Covid-19 pandemic many charities are stretched as a result of furloughing staff, losing funding revenue and adjusting to working from home. At the same time, people are stepping up to help and volunteer in numbers and ways that have not been seen before.
Having been furloughed from her usual job as an Information Officer at the organisation Unique (who provide support, information and understanding to all thoseĀ are affected by rare chromosome and gene disorders), Sarah offered to help out at Genetic Alliance UK. Here she is explaining why she has volunteered and also how we can help you advertise or find volunteering opportunities via our Volunteer Exchange.
If you would like to advertise volunteering opportunities at your organisation, or you are looking to share your time and skills email covid-19@geneticalliance.org.uk.
